Mr Pukka Halal has been making this recipe since his student days at University in the 90s (yes he’s that old LOL!).
This was such a staple and comfort food for me growing up and one of the few dishes I could make along with Achar Gosht which apart from Haleem is my all-time favourite food.
My mum has been using Shan Masala readymade packs since the 90s when she was cooking in Ireland and there weren’t many Indian and Pakistani spices around.
Thankfully when we moved to the UK we found an abundance of Indian and Pakistani spices and the Shan Masala ready meals.
My husband learned to make this Chicken Karahi Gosht while studying and after much perfection and tweaking, he says the secret is to add tinned tomatoes and extra spices as needed.
I’ll try and film this recipe for you to see but follow the Shan Masala recipe and it’s pretty foolproof.
DON’T add the whole bag as it says in the recipe on the back of the box, it’s unedible if you do!
Just add as much of the ready masala as you can handle.
